The concept of the distance learning has certainly changed within the last 10-15 years and has given the world of higher education a much needed jump-start.

Distance education has evolved from its primitive state of correspondence courses to graphic-intense, high-speed streaming audio and video lectures, readings, and live online chat rooms. If the student can only “attend classes” Thursday nights from 8:30-10:30pm and on Saturday nights, they can do that with ease. No need to record any programs, just log on, and study away!

The flexibility of a distance education program is definitely one of the most popular drawing points in choosing the type of college to attend. The great thing about distance learning is the phrase “distance”. If a student wishes to enroll in a class in Boston, but resides in Oklahoma City, distance learning makes it possible for that student to attend that class without having to leave the town, much less the state.

As technology continues to advance, we can expect to see a great deal of distance education degrees being offered at more and more colleges and universities.
